Gear Update #2

It's been a while since I made the first gear update post. Back then I wasn't using anything special, and this time it's not that much different. The only thing that I think sucks, that the fact that I'm missing the Anuhart Spiritmaster Boots, other then that I got pretty much everything I want. Well, maybe I want the AP weapon so I can combine it, but that would be all, really! Anyway, here is a list of the items I'm wearing in the video you can see below. Scroll up or down if the video messes up the item description and that's why I'll put the video first, and the items after it:

Want To Fly Longer? Learn This Trick

Did you know... that you can fly longer than your actual flight time? Flying in Aion, who hasn't heard of that yet? Pretty much everyone knows you can fly in Aion and that's 1 aspect of the game which seperates it from the other MMORPGs. In Aion, you have flying, gliding and gliding while flying. Sounds complicated? Let me explain.

1. Flying

One of the most important reasons why Aion is so famous, is because of the flight system. To start flying, you'll have to reach level 10 first and you should have finished the Ascension quest. Once you've done that, the only thing you will have to is press the "Toggle Flight/Landing" button.

Once you are flying, you can do whatever you want. Fly left, right, up (R key by default) or down (F key by default). It's all up to you. While you are in this flight mode, every second you spend in the air will reduce your total flight time by 1 second. Say your total flight time was 60 seconds. This would mean you can stay in the air for 60 seconds.

2. Gliding

The second type of flight in Aion is gliding. To get in a "glide" state, all you have to do is press spacebar while you jump. While you are gliding, do not use your movement keys such as W A S D. Doing this will get you out of the glide mode as soon as you touch the ground. Unlike flying, gliding can be done at any level and doesn't need a quest to unlock it.

Gliding is especially usefull if you are walking/running on a downwards slope. If this is used wisely, you can catch up with people that are ahead of you.

While you are gliding, every second you are in the "glide" state, 2 seconds will be recuded from your total flight time. Say your total flight time was 60 seconds. This would mean you can glide for 30 seconds before your flight time runs out.

3. Gliding + Flying

If you mix gliding with flying, you get the most efficient form of trasportation and the most difficult one at the same time. To be able to glide and fly at the same time, you must at least finish the Ascension quest mentioned in point 1.

To get the glide/flight combination going you need to start of with flying. The higher you fly, the longer you will be able to glide, so get as high as you can. When you think you're high enough, press the spacebar once. Doing this will result in you being in the "glide" mode.

While you are in this mode, you can't ascend and descend using the R and F keys. All you can do is use your mouse to steer yourself in the right direction. The benefit of being in this mode is that your flight time reduces twice as slow as it normally would. Let's say your flight time was 30 seconds when you pressed the spacebar to get in the glide/flight mode, this would mean you can stay in the air for 60 seconds before you run out of flight time.

When you are in the glide/flight state, you can easily switch back to the flight mode by pressing spacebar again. You can do this as often as you want, as long as you have some flight time left.

Be warned. Pressing the "Toggle Flight/Landing" button while in glide/flight mode will result in you crashing down!

Aion Closed Beta 6 - My PvP Experience

Aion closed beta 6, just wow. Somewhere in closed beta 5 I managed to hit level 30, which left me to do with 1 thing. PvP! Having a few days in which all I did was killing Elyos was satisfying to say the least. But that's not where it ended. Closed beta 6 is even awesomer (is that even a word?). The PvP I've been doing, is partially happening in the Abyss. Flying around in a group of 4-5-6 people, killing anything and everything that comes in our way. Flying from 1 island to another. Even visiting the Upper Abyss to see what's up there. But in a closed beta, where the level limit is 30, not much people go to the upper Abyss. Still, managed to get a few kills here and there. Even though you can have great fun in the Abyss, the Abyss isn't the juicy part during the a closed beta.

It's the, what we call, Pitchfork Ville (you read it here first!) Pitchfork Ville is the where all the action happened during closed beta 6. It's located in Eltnen in the Elyos area. I have no clue what level people level in this area, but what I do know is... that there are a LOT of noobs near the Pitchfork Ville.

And the best part about it is that this stream of noobs is never ending. When you kill 1, 2 other noobs replace him. And it's not once that his happened but this happens every time we head to this zone. I don't know what it is about. Just take a look at the 2 screenshots below.

Like I said 10 times before. Going to Pitchfork Ville (aka Eltnen noob zone) is freaking awesome! Unless you have done the same, you wouldn't know how freaking fun that is. That is untill you get zerged by a group of Elyos that is at least triple or quadruple the size of your group!

And that Sir is my Aion's 6th closed beta PvP experience. And the screenshots you see above are taking from PvP footage which I will make a movie from in the near future.

Spiritmaster Solo Leveling In Lower Abyss

This video is all about me! Oh and this is video 16 by the way. In this video you'll see me leveling in the Abyss. I'm level 29 and I'm leveling on level 27-29 monsters, which is perfect for me. The reason it's perfect for me, is because I'm a Spiritmaster. As you know, Spiritmasters get to use their Spirits (or summons or however you want to call them). The Spirit I'm using in the video is the Fire Spirit. The reason I'm using this one to tank and attack is simple. The Fire Spirit has a good defense and a nice attack. I could use the Water or Wind Spirit for the damage, but those Spirits would die too fast. If I used the Earth Spirit, the damage output would have been reduced by quite a bit. And just a DYI. Did you know that the attack power of the Earth Spirit will be reduced in patch 1.5?

Anyway, you can see on the map where this footage was taken. That island if a pretty safe spot and doesn't get raided too often. And that's 1 of the reasons I'm leveling there. Another reasson I'm leveling there and in the Abyss, is because of the huge DP points you gain per monster. In the video you see the bar jump up with every monster. Because of the huge DP gain, a Spiritmaster can afford to level with his Spirit constantly powered up.

Oh and not to forget, if you level in the Abyss, you get Abyss Points for every monster you kill. To end this post. If you are a Spiritmaster and you love grinding. Just try to mimic what you saw in the video (if you haven't seen it yet, click the image below) and you'll be able to afford nice Abyss gear at level 30 and you'll level up nicely.
