During those years, I've used my fair share of headsets. Even though I've got a 5.1 surround sound system, I barely make use of it. It's not because it's a bad system, but it's because I live in a small house. When I'm playing video games, I always want to turn up the volume so I get the most of out the game.Because I couldn't use the surround sound system and I wanted to play my games with the volume turned up, I quickly started to use headsets. Me being a poor student, I bought the cheapest headset I could find. Back then it was something like a $5 headset. This was probably the worst headset I ever used. This headset was so bad, I got rid of it a couple days later.
Reasons To Get Rid Of Your Headset
The headphones were terrible. They barely had any foam/protection on them, so they would really hurt your ears when you had the headset on. Not only were the headphones terrible, this headset could fall apart even if you looked at it with bad intentions. After falling from my desk 2 times, the headset stopped working. If you're planning to get yourself a headset, please make sure the headphones have enough foam/protection on them so they cover your ears nicely.
Communication Is Important
When I'm looking for headsets I want to buy, there are only a few characteristics I'm looking for. And a quality microphone is one of those. When you're gaming and you're a part of a group/guild which makes use of some sort group communication software [Ventrillo or TeamSpeak most probably], you want to make sure you've got a headset with a microphone which produces sound of high quality. There is nothing more annoying then having a person on Ventrillo or TeamSpeak who has a bad microphone. Which brings me to the headset I'm using right now.
The Logitech ClearChat Comfort USB Headset
The Logitech ClearChat Pro USB™ headset. That's the headset I'm using and picking this headset has been 1 of the best choices I've made in a while. It starts with the headphones, which are small, but big enough to cover yours ears. So not only do you get perfect sound from the headphones which are comfortable to the ears, but it also prevents you hearing unwanted sounds from the "outside world"Then we have the excellent microphone, which you can also use on MSN, Skype, Google Talk or any other program which requires a microphone. The Logitech ClearChat Pro USB™ is a headset which you can easily use on Ventrillo or TeamSpeak. The sound it produces is crystal clear and in the few months I've been using it, I haven't had 1 person complain about the sound quality. The last characteristic I like about the Logitech ClearChat Pro USB™ and I want all my future headsets to have, is an USB connection. After I bought the headset and came home. I plugged in the headset and within a minute I could use the headset. No configuring, no adjusting sounds for every separate program. Plug it in, let the software install itself and start using it. So all in all, I'm very pleased with the headset and for $49,99 I'd say it's well worth it.This is my experience with the Logitech ClearChat Pro USB™ . Do you have anything to say about this headset or the headset you're using, please do so on the forums.
I've been gaming for as long as I can remember. The main reason for this being it's ability to write macros which you can then use with a single click. On the Logitech website, it's described as Six programmable G-keys: Perform single keystrokes or complex macros with six fully programmable G-keys. Create macros on the fly, without having to pause the action There are some other functionalities that make the Logitech G15 the preferred keyboard.Functionalities such as the LCD display which shows information about the game you're playing. I'm not sure which information it exactly is, but it does show some information. And the G15's third characteristic which makes it so famous, are the Illuminated characters.

The Logitech G15's characteristics

Back to my question. Is the Logitech G15 a good keyboard for Aion. I came up with this question shortly after I wrote the article about Aion macros. If you read that article, you'll find out that you can use Aion's ingame macros to enhance your gaming experience. You can make those as simple or as complicated as you want and you can make much more than you can with the Logitech G15. This kind of removes 1 of the characteristics of the Logitech G15.

The second characteristic, the LCD display which shows you information about the game. Like i said, I'm not really sure what information it shows you, but I can't imagine the information shown on the LCD display is more important than what's going on on your screen. While you're having a massive battle with the other faction, you're not going to take a break and take a look at your LCD display and read what information it shows you. So I'm not really intrigued by this characteristic either.

Which leaves us with the third and last characteristic, the Logitech G15's Illuminated characters. Right now I'm using a $10 Trust keyboard. And when it gets dark here, I'm forced to turn on the lights because it's just impossible for me to see which keys I'm pressing. If I had a Logitech G15 on the other hand, I wouldn't have to turn on the lights. Another upside to the illuminated characters is that the keys you're pressing are more visible than a standard keyboard.

What I think about the Logitech G15 for Aion

The Logitech G15 has 3 characteristics which makes it a popular keyboard for gamers. It's ability to write macros. It's LCD display and it's illuminated characters. Out of those 3 characteristics, 2 are useless for Aion. That's how I think about it. The third characteristic, the Illuminated characters is something that a gamer really needs if he wants to game all day and night. But is it really worth paying $69,95 for a keyboard that gives you Illuminated characters?

All in all, I don't think that the Logitech G15 is a good keyboard for Aion. This doesn't mean I don't like the Logitech G15 or that it's a bad keyboard. I just don't think it's worth paying $69,95 for the Logitech G15 just so it can flash lights at you.

For those that wonder what the Logitech G15 looks like. Here is picture
