I'm not sure at which level you can do this, but our entire group of 6 did it at level 30. The highest level monsters we fought inside were level 37 and because there is a big gap between the monster's level and our level, we barely did any damage to them. But, it all ended up well. This was the formation of the group we entered with.
FailSauce - 30 Templar
Drakenwode - 30 Templar
Cira - 30 Chanter
Losso - 30 Assassin
Coy - 30 Gladiator
Jupiter - 30 Spiritmaster
This was actually a nice setup because to get to the boss (named Corrupt Judge Kromede) we've gotten to, having 2 templars in the group really helped out. I'm not saying you can't do it with 1 templar, but having 2 in the group makes it easier. We've got 3 people that are semi-high to high dps and we've got 1 semi-healer who can also dps. Having a chanter instead of a cleric will make things easier at the boss, but if you use the tactic we did, a chanter will be more than enough.

Don't get wiped!

If you watched the video, you'll see that we got 2 near wipes, but still managed to keep going. If everyone in the group had died, we were forced to start from the beginning of the Fire Temple instance. You might wonder how we managed to survive. Let me explain.

If it looks your group is going to get wiped, make sure someone in your group runs the boss off. Get it as far away from the person that's going to do the ressurections as possible. This way you make sure the boss won't aggro anyone. While you run off the boss, make sure you're in a position to get ressurected easily. Whenever it looked like our group was going to get wiped, I took aggro of the boss and ran it towards the entrance of the cave.

Time for tactics

Killing this boss took us over 30 minutes and the main reason for this is the first two time we tried to kill this boss, we failed. And we failed because we thought we could kill this boss like the ones we killed before, by just tanking and spanking. The result? We almost got wiped twice.

So we had to use a little bit of tactics. Out chanter suggested that our tank should tank it from a distance, so that the Area of Effect (AoE) attacks didn't hit the people around the main tank. Because the boss uses a bow to attack, this tactic actually worked. Not only did his main AoE attack not damage the rest of the group, but the traps/mines the boss lays don't damage the main tank. So this is an ideal tactic for this boss. Once you get the hang of it, it'll go down smoothly.

Finally, items!

Here is a simple list of items which we've gotten from Corrupt Judge Kromede and items that others have gotten from Corrupt Judge Kromede.
Because the rewards from Corrupt Judge Kromede are so nice, the Fire Temple is a nice place to farm at level 30. But keep in mind, the orange items are bound on pickup, so be careful picking them up.
If you haven't watched the video yet, click the image below

Different Channels In Beginner Zones2009-08-28T12:45:00Z2009-08-28T12:45:00Zhttp://theaionguy.com/aion-blog/item/32-different-channels-beginner-zones.htmlDid you know... that there are 10 different channels in the beginner zones?Aion is played by millions of players around the world which means it can get crowded on maps at times. To solve this problem, NCsoft introduced Channels to Aion. A channel is a different instance of the same map.Let's say channel 1 (default channel) in the beginner zone has 100 players on it and there were no monsters to kill. To solve this problem you could switch to any other the other 9 channels where there are monsters. You'd still be on the same map, but this time without the other 100 people that are on channel 1.With beginner zones I mean Altgard and Ishalgen (for Asmodians) and Verteron and Poeta (for Elyos)
Can't Find Your Friend?
I've come across this question a few times now and it's always been something like "me and my friend are on the same server and same map, but we can't see each other" The answer to this is obvious. You and your friend aren't on the same channel. To find out on which channel you are, you'll have to press Menu [F10] --> Support --> Change Channel. Once you done this you'll see in which channel you are.Alternatively, if you are grouped with your friend, you can hover over his name in the party window. Doing this will show the channel your friend is in. Or you could open up the map [M] and hover over your friend's name. This will also show the channel he or she is in.To switch channels press Menu [F10] --> Support --> Change Channel --> MoveQuick video of me changing channels and showing how it's done. Even though Tony and Lori talk for hours, it's interesting to listen to them. This week they even mention my name! Thanks for that Tony and Lori. Before you head over to their website, here is what you can expect:
Legion housing – Yes, it is coming!
New Abyss zone – Smaller, more intense, providing greater PvPvE opportunities
The integration of social networking tools (twitter, facebook, etc.) is being discussed in the development team.
Mounts – Yes, they will be introduced; however, transporting players will probably not be there primary function.
I'm not spoiling it too much. Head over to the Abyss Podcast Website or you can click this link to subscribe via iTunes directly.
The 6th episode of the Abyss Podcast already. The main reason for this being it's ability to write macros which you can then use with a single click. On the Logitech website, it's described as Six programmable G-keys: Perform single keystrokes or complex macros with six fully programmable G-keys. Create macros on the fly, without having to pause the action There are some other functionalities that make the Logitech G15 the preferred keyboard.Functionalities such as the LCD display which shows information about the game you're playing. I'm not sure which information it exactly is, but it does show some information. And the G15's third characteristic which makes it so famous, are the Illuminated characters.

The Logitech G15's characteristics

Back to my question. Is the Logitech G15 a good keyboard for Aion. I came up with this question shortly after I wrote the article about Aion macros. If you read that article, you'll find out that you can use Aion's ingame macros to enhance your gaming experience. You can make those as simple or as complicated as you want and you can make much more than you can with the Logitech G15. This kind of removes 1 of the characteristics of the Logitech G15.

The second characteristic, the LCD display which shows you information about the game. Like i said, I'm not really sure what information it shows you, but I can't imagine the information shown on the LCD display is more important than what's going on on your screen. While you're having a massive battle with the other faction, you're not going to take a break and take a look at your LCD display and read what information it shows you. So I'm not really intrigued by this characteristic either.

Which leaves us with the third and last characteristic, the Logitech G15's Illuminated characters. Right now I'm using a $10 Trust keyboard. And when it gets dark here, I'm forced to turn on the lights because it's just impossible for me to see which keys I'm pressing. If I had a Logitech G15 on the other hand, I wouldn't have to turn on the lights. Another upside to the illuminated characters is that the keys you're pressing are more visible than a standard keyboard.

What I think about the Logitech G15 for Aion

The Logitech G15 has 3 characteristics which makes it a popular keyboard for gamers. It's ability to write macros. It's LCD display and it's illuminated characters. Out of those 3 characteristics, 2 are useless for Aion. That's how I think about it. The third characteristic, the Illuminated characters is something that a gamer really needs if he wants to game all day and night. But is it really worth paying $69,95 for a keyboard that gives you Illuminated characters?

All in all, I don't think that the Logitech G15 is a good keyboard for Aion. This doesn't mean I don't like the Logitech G15 or that it's a bad keyboard. I just don't think it's worth paying $69,95 for the Logitech G15 just so it can flash lights at you.

For those that wonder what the Logitech G15 looks like. Here is picture
I'd love to hear what you guys have to say about this and whether the owners of a Logitech G15 agree or disagree with me.

Back to you

What do you think about the question "Is The Logitech G15 A Good Keyboard For Aion?" I'd love to hear what you guys have to say about this and whether the owners of a Logitech G15 agree or disagree with me. To discuss this, please head over to this thread on the forums.
Most Useful Aion Macro2009-08-25T17:14:54Z2009-08-25T17:14:54Zhttp://theaionguy.com/aion-blog/item/29-most-useful-aion-macro.htmlMacros, including Aion macros are something I'm new to. The previous MMOs I played (Redmoon Online / Rising Force Online) didn't have a macro functionality. So having to play a game that has these macros is a new thing to me.Out of the previous 6 closed betas, I've played 5. And only during the last 2 of those did I make use of the Aion macros. Or should I say a Aion macro, because I only used 1 and I think it's the one that each and everyone out there needs. I've described it here on the forums: Show off your macros! (and help others)

What this Aion macro does is very simple yet very powerful. When you press the button to activate this macro, it will select your target's target. In other words, this macro will target the group leaders target for example, or the target of the person who's doing the targeting. I think you are beginning to understand why this simple, yet powerful Aion macro is very useful.

Imagine this. You and your group / alliance are preparing for a fight with a big group of Elyos / Asmodians. The good old way to kill your enemies as fast as possible would be to call targets 1 by 1 and go through the pack of enemies like that. Aion can help you out in two ways with this.

The group / alliance leader has the ability to put numbers and icons above the target's head, making him stand out from the rest.

You can use the Aion macro which lets you target someone else his target. Doing this will instantly pick the target which is called and you don't have to worry about targeting someone else or looking for the target

As you can see, the second way of targetting is way superior to the first way. Now that you know what this macro does, let me explain how to set it up. This is a macro with 2 lines of code, it's impossible to get an even more simple one.

The first line of the code is the line which selects the person who's doing the targeting. And there are two ways to do this. You can either select a person in your group, or you can select someone's name (doesn't have to be in group). The second way of targeting is useful when you're in an alliance and the person doing the targeting isn't in your group.

To select a person in your group. Your line of code should look like this:
/Select [%Group1]What this does is select the person which is in position 1 in your group. It doesn't matter what is name is, it just picks the first person in the group. If you would change the number to 2, it would select the second person.

Alternatively, you would want to select someone that isn't in your group, but is doing the targeting. To solve this, just change the first line of code to this.
/Select NameIn this case you can just fill in the name of the person that is doing the targeting. He doesn't have to be in your group, alliance, guild or whatsoever. It could be any random guy.

The second line of the code in the macro is the part that selects your target's target. And there are two ways I know of which does the trick. Both will do the trick, so it's up to you whichever you use for your macro.

The first option for your second line of code would be this:
/Quickbar 1 0 1This would be the more "complicated" one of the two. And for it's explanation I'll quote what I wrote on the forums.

For this to work you have to have a specific hotbar setup.

On Hotbar (1) you got to have the Macro shortcut.
On Hotbar (0) you've got to place the "Assist target" icon on the first slot, which is slot (1), which you can pick from the Actions list when you press K.

The second way of doing this is much simpler. All you have to type in the second line of your macro is this:
/Skill Assist TargetAs you can see, this is a lot simpler. Instead of typing, you could even drag the "Skill Assist Target" from your "K" window in the macro editing window and it will fill in the second line of the code itself. This line of code will also result in you targeting the person you selected in the first line of your code.

And the final result of the code could look like this (this is how I have it):
/Select [%Group1] or /Select Name
/Skill Assist Target And those two lines of code will make up the best and most useful Aion macro you'll see. Do you disagree with me and do you think there are better ones? Leave a comment or share it on the forums here: <a title="Show off your macros! Learn This Trick2009-08-24T14:43:20Z2009-08-24T14:43:20Zhttp://theaionguy.com/aion-blog/item/28-aion-fly-longer.htmlDid you know... that you can fly longer than your actual flight time?
Flying in Aion, who hasn't heard of that yet? Pretty much everyone knows you can fly in Aion and that's 1 aspect of the game which seperates it from the other MMORPGs.
In Aion, you have flying, gliding and gliding while flying. Sounds complicated? Let me explain.

1. Flying

One of the most important reasons why Aion is so famous, is because of the flight system. To start flying, you'll have to reach level 10 first and you should have finished the Ascension quest. Once you've done that, the only thing you will have to is press the "Toggle Flight/Landing" button.

Once you are flying, you can do whatever you want. Fly left, right, up (R key by default) or down (F key by default). It's all up to you. While you are in this flight mode, every second you spend in the air will reduce your total flight time by 1 second. Say your total flight time was 60 seconds. This would mean you can stay in the air for 60 seconds.

2. Gliding

The second type of flight in Aion is gliding. To get in a "glide" state, all you have to do is press spacebar while you jump. While you are gliding, do not use your movement keys such as W A S D. Doing this will get you out of the glide mode as soon as you touch the ground. Unlike flying, gliding can be done at any level and doesn't need a quest to unlock it.

Gliding is especially usefull if you are walking/running on a downwards slope. If this is used wisely, you can catch up with people that are ahead of you.

While you are gliding, every second you are in the "glide" state, 2 seconds will be recuded from your total flight time. Say your total flight time was 60 seconds. This would mean you can glide for 30 seconds before your flight time runs out.

3. Gliding + Flying

If you mix gliding with flying, you get the most efficient form of trasportation and the most difficult one at the same time. To be able to glide and fly at the same time, you must at least finish the Ascension quest mentioned in point 1.

To get the glide/flight combination going you need to start of with flying. The higher you fly, the longer you will be able to glide, so get as high as you can. When you think you're high enough, press the spacebar once. Doing this will result in you being in the "glide" mode.

While you are in this mode, you can't ascend and descend using the R and F keys. All you can do is use your mouse to steer yourself in the right direction. The benefit of being in this mode is that your flight time reduces twice as slow as it normally would. Let's say your flight time was 30 seconds when you pressed the spacebar to get in the glide/flight mode, this would mean you can stay in the air for 60 seconds before you run out of flight time.

When you are in the glide/flight state, you can easily switch back to the flight mode by pressing spacebar again. You can do this as often as you want, as long as you have some flight time left.

Be warned. Pressing the "Toggle Flight/Landing" button while in glide/flight mode will result in you crashing down!

Use this knowledge to your benefit and have fun in the Abyss. And to make sure everyone understands what I mean, I made you a video to demonstrate. Just click the image below to see the video.

Which was 249.471 and that resulted in us being 7th on that server on the Asmodian side.
You also notice that I've only got 16 Abyss Points. The reason for this is simple. Right before I recorded this video, I finished farming for Abyss Points to get my 2nd ring. The highest rank I've gotten during closed beta 6, was 5th which is decent I think.

So don't be too harsh on me. If this is not what you want to see, please leave a comment below and tell me what it is you do want to see.
Anyway, the footage for this video was taken from about 10 hours of Fraps footage. It was a bit hard to squeeze it in 10 minutes, but I think I did an okay job. The editing with the voice, the footage and the music was annoying, so you better like it! Most of this footage is from the Pitchfork Ville and boy, do I love Pitchfork Ville!

If you watch the video, you might think that there is a ton of PvP going on in the Elyos area (Eltnen) but, that's not really the case. Apart from Pitchfork Ville, there was barely anyone to kill. We had the occasional group that was wondering around but I was hoping for more really. Apart from the noob ganking near their towns I was kind of disappointed.

Not going to write a lot about this PvP video. Just watch it and if you don't like it, do tell in a comment! (Click the image below to see the video)

Somewhere in closed beta 5 I managed to hit level 30, which left me to do with 1 thing. PvP! Having a few days in which all I did was killing Elyos was satisfying to say the least. But that's not where it ended. Closed beta 6 is even awesomer (is that even a word?).
The PvP I've been doing, is partially happening in the Abyss. Flying around in a group of 4-5-6 people, killing anything and everything that comes in our way. Flying from 1 island to another. Even visiting the Upper Abyss to see what's up there. But in a closed beta, where the level limit is 30, not much people go to the upper Abyss. Still, managed to get a few kills here and there. Even though you can have great fun in the Abyss, the Abyss isn't the juicy part during the a closed beta.

It's the, what we call, Pitchfork Ville (you read it here first!) Pitchfork Ville is the where all the action happened during closed beta 6. It's located in Eltnen in the Elyos area. I have no clue what level people level in this area, but what I do know is... that there are a LOT of noobs near the Pitchfork Ville.

And the best part about it is that this stream of noobs is never ending. When you kill 1, 2 other noobs replace him. And it's not once that his happened but this happens every time we head to this zone. I don't know what it is about. Just take a look at the 2 screenshots below.

{rokbox title=|This is where Pitchfor Ville is| size=|561 350|}images/homepage/pitchfork-ville1.jpg{/rokbox} {rokbox title=|This is where Pitchfor Ville is| size=|561 350|}images/homepage/pitchfork-ville2.jpg{/rokbox}

Like I said 10 times before. Going to Pitchfork Ville (aka Eltnen noob zone) is freaking awesome! Unless you have done the same, you wouldn't know how freaking fun that is. That is untill you get zerged by a group of Elyos that is at least triple or quadruple the size of your group!

And that Sir is my Aion's 6th closed beta PvP experience. And the screenshots you see above are taking from PvP footage which I will make a movie from in the near future.

I thought we had killed all the 'Chieftain' bosses in the earlier videos, but I was wrong. We've got another one. This time it's the Chieftain Kiwanunu. The Chieftain Kiwanunu is a level 30 boss and has quite some items in its drop table. But before we get to that, let's go over some tactics.

As you can see in the video, we attack the Ice Claw Elite Summoner first. We did this because we thought this was the stronger of the 2. We were right about it being the stronger one, but little did we know that the Ice Claw Elite Healer had such crazy heals. It started off with us not being able to kill the Summoner because we lacked the attack power for it and we didn't have a Scorcerer in the group that could sleep the Healer.

It was time for a change of plans and we started to attack the Healer now. As you could see in the vdeo, the Healer dropped like a sack of sh*t and the Summoner followed quickly after him. Which left us with the boss, Chieftain Kiwanunu. This boss hits pretty hard, but if you have a Chanter, or even a Cleric in your group, your tank shouldn't have to die.

Oh and an extra tip for the Spiritmasters among us. To fight this boss and it's minions, use the Water Spirit. It might not have the highest attack of all the Spirits at level 30, but because it attacks from a distance, it will stay out of harms way.

Now the juicy part you've been waiting for. The items the Chieftain Kiwanunu drops. Well here they are:

Breastplate of Ice Claw Tribe

For the Chieftain Kiwanunu you need a group that's close to level 30. Other than that you should be okay killing it. Getting to the boss might be a bit tricky. But once you're there, it's all yours. As per usual, for those that haven't seen the video yet, click the image below.

Oh and this is video 16 by the way. In this video you'll see me leveling in the Abyss. I'm level 29 and I'm leveling on level 27-29 monsters, which is perfect for me. The reason it's perfect for me, is because I'm a Spiritmaster.
As you know, Spiritmasters get to use their Spirits (or summons or however you want to call them). The Spirit I'm using in the video is the Fire Spirit. The reason I'm using this one to tank and attack is simple. The Fire Spirit has a good defense and a nice attack. I could use the Water or Wind Spirit for the damage, but those Spirits would die too fast. If I used the Earth Spirit, the damage output would have been reduced by quite a bit. And just a DYI. Did you know that the attack power of the Earth Spirit will be reduced in patch 1.5?

Anyway, you can see on the map where this footage was taken. That island if a pretty safe spot and doesn't get raided too often. And that's 1 of the reasons I'm leveling there. Another reasson I'm leveling there and in the Abyss, is because of the huge DP points you gain per monster. In the video you see the bar jump up with every monster. Because of the huge DP gain, a Spiritmaster can afford to level with his Spirit constantly powered up.

Oh and not to forget, if you level in the Abyss, you get Abyss Points for every monster you kill. If you're like me and you don't mind grinding, you can easily pay for some nice Abyss gear at level 30, which I did. {rokbox title=|Aquamarine Ring of Devilishness| text=|As you can see in the picture| size=|561 350|}images/homepage/aquamarine-ring-of-devilishness.jpg{/rokbox}, I'm wearing 2 of the 'Aquamarine Ring of Devilishness' which cost me 2x 14.700 Abyss points.

To end this post. If you are a Spiritmaster and you love grinding. Just try to mimic what you saw in the video (if you haven't seen it yet, click the image below) and you'll be able to afford nice Abyss gear at level 30 and you'll level up nicely.
